Apple Introduces Thinner and Lighter MacBook Pro Models with OLED Displays
Apple has redesigned the MacBook Pro lineup with OLED panels, resulting in a slimmer chassis, reduced weight, and narrower screen bezels. The new laptops carry a price increase of $400 over previous generations.
Apple has implemented structural design changes in the new generation of MacBook Pros featuring OLED panels, resulting in reduced device thickness and weight. The 16-inch model now features a larger 16.3-inch screen thanks to narrower bezels, while the 14-inch version retains its previous 14.2-inch panel size.
Due to the elimination of backlighting and the integration of touch sensors directly into the panel, the new displays play a key role in making the devices lighter. OLED-equipped models are approximately 230 grams lighter and at least half a millimeter thinner than their Mini-LED predecessors. The 14-inch OLED version's thickness has decreased to about 1.5 centimeters, while the 16-inch model drops to around 1.6 centimeters.
In terms of weight, the 14-inch OLED model registers at about 1.36 kilograms for the M5 Pro chip version and 1.4 kilograms for the M5 Max. The 16-inch OLED model reaches 1.81 kilograms with the M5 Pro and 1.86 kilograms with the M5 Max. Apple has priced the new laptops $400 higher, with the 14-inch model starting at $2,899 and the 16-inch version launching at $3,399.
