Rockstar has officially announced the exact dimensions of the GTA 6 map, revealing that its environment will be roughly twice the size of GTA 5. The total area of playable landmass in the world of Leonida is comparable to the combined playable areas of GTA 4, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
According to a report from Edge magazine, the primary focus of the developers was not merely expanding the physical scale of the environment, but rather prioritizing the density of details and the rich content within the game world.
Aaron Garbut, development director at Rockstar, stated that players can travel to any random spot and find that countless individuals have thought about and worked on that specific location. Garbut also mentioned that during his own exploration of the map's corners, he regularly discovers elements that he was previously unaware of during the development process.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 18 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S consoles.
